In the period from November 24 to 30, i.e. the 48th week of 2025, 114 cases of influenza and influenza-like illnesses were reported in the country, according to the latest data from the Institute of Public Health (IPH). This represents an increase of 25,3 percent compared to the previous week. Compared to the same week last season, the numbers are higher by 75,4 percent, and compared to the model for the last 15 seasons – by 2,7 percent.
The infected have been registered in 11 Public Health Centers/regional units. The most cases are in Kumanovo – 49, followed by Strumica – 16, Shtip – 11, Tetovo – 9, Gostivar – 7, Prilep and Kavadarci – 6 each, Makedonski Brod – 5, Negotino – 3, as well as one case each in Radovis and Skopje.
Since the beginning of the 2025/2026 season, a total of 776 cases have been registered. This represents an increase of 70,9 percent compared to the same period last year, and compared to the model for the last 15 seasons – an increase of 25,9 percent. The cases have been reported from a total of 15 CPH/PE. The most cases are in the Gostivar area, while the highest cumulative incidence is recorded in Makedonski Brod.
The majority of infected people are from the age group of 15 to 64 years - a total of 584 cases, which is expected given that this group comprises the majority of the population.
The IPH reiterates that vaccination against seasonal influenza remains the most effective protection against the disease.
