RUSSIA has blocked access to Snapchat, a social network for sharing photos and videos that are posted temporarily, state news agency RIA reported on Thursday, citing communications regulator Roskomnadzor.
Russian authorities explained that one of the reasons for the ban was the alleged misuse of Snapchat "to organize and commit terrorist acts in the country and to recruit perpetrators."
Russia earlier on Thursday blocked Apple's FaceTime video calling app as part of an intensified campaign to crack down on foreign technology platforms that authorities say are being used for criminal activities.
The decision followed restrictions imposed on Google's YouTube, Meta's WhatsApp, and Telegram.
